The Iranian authorities agreed and welcomed the proposal of the sextet of international mediators to resume negotiations, the media revealed the Islamic Republic.
The relevant message was sent to the High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy European Union, Catherine Ashton, who led the team that represented the Sextet in talks with Iran in January 2011 in Istanbul.
According to the document, quoted by Iranian television, the secretary of the Supreme Council of National Security of the country, Said Jalili, welcomed the intention of the group of six to return to the bargaining table and hoped that the dialogue will be fair and no pressure on Tehran.
Since 2003, the sextet comprised by Germany, China, USA, France, Britain and Russia and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) calling for Iran to cease uranium enrichment work because that work threatens the nuclear non-proliferation regime.
West suspects that Iran is developing nuclear weapons but the Iranians rejected the allegations and say their nuclear program is aimed only to meet domestic energy demand.
